Purpose - ‘6 In The Mornin’
We’ve been a fan of Purps for a while. Hell, he and fellow Pagen Elypsis spitter Pohetikut were our first in-studio guests when Peak Street had our gully radio show on SYN (on that note fuck you Desh you Planet Urban cocksmoking bitchass sack sucking turd). The man was also in Issue 1 of our magazine for christs sake. So of course we were going to check out his mixtape “If The City Had a Voice Part 2” when it dropped.
And it’s impressive shit. But if you’re expecting straight dirty battle rhymes, forget it. Purpose’s lyricism is polished. Like, shiny polished. So polished that it hurts your eyes polished. Like it is crossover polished, deserving of getting a chance to crack the US market, not David fucking Dallas. Fuck he even uses he term swag in his rhymes and I still don’t hate him. That’s pretty big for me! Though to be honest Purps you were pushing the friendship with that dubstep shit……..
He rides over some stolen beats, sounding right at home over some of Ye’s recent creations, but what really surprised me was that the man is really getting good behind the boards now too, with tracks like ‘Where I’m Comin From’ and ‘All Over the World’ sounding sharp.
The above track ‘6 In The Mornin’ shows Purps at his best on the mic and boards. Headnodding goodness, quotables by the dozen and a cadence all you lames could learn from. Oh yeah and DJ Hacksaw smashing it on the cut. Click the cover and enjoy.
Then click here and download “If The City Had A Voice Part 2’ for free. Oh yeah!
Check the Strategy
An Australian hip hop media empire conglomerate comin straight outta Melbourne who unleashes mighty healthy cans of verbal whoop arse, plays hopscotch with your mum and never sleeps, cause sleep is still the cousin of death. Oh and we drop magazines sometimes and other assorted hi-jinx.
Drop a question like it's hot!
